Bamboo Camp| Shivering Nights At Mt. Kalatungan

“I am panting heavily and my heart beat erratically. I suddenly feel that the surroundings around me is somewhere beyond my imaginations because I’m seeing unusual things.”

FzV-Q-TQ

We assembled our troop together and departed into the mossy forest. The temperature was 15 degree Celsius and quite chilly. My cardio system and my breathing were all getting push to their limits. Considering the altitude we were at the oxygen was very limited and made it extremely hard to breath. I would suggest if you’re asthmatic not to do this climb. One of symptoms I discovered personally was hallucinating and imagining unusual things, I was also feeling dizzy, nauseous and feeling that I will collapse.

Yes this is altitude sickness, and at this time I was saying prayers and ask him for blessings to help me. My mind was going off like a shotgun in all sorts of direction. I was wondering if I was going to get off the mountain alive. On top of this I was thinking about if I did pass away on this mountain I didn’t want anyone to get the blame for it.

CDOXV9Fg (1)

If you think you’re prepared add an extra 25% of security e.g do even more research and prepare better. Such as first aid kit, cold weather gear, thermal equipment etc. Altitude sickness effects everyone in different ways.

I took two thick socks and some inadequate gloves I thought they’re good but they were crap, they maybe adequate for some climbs but not this. I would recommend purchasing a balaclava to keep your head and face and ears warm. Considering 90% of your body heat is lost through your head. Especially when you’re sleeping.

You will require cold weather equipment that is light and durable but it needs to have high quality thermal resistances. I am talking about thermal underwear, gloves and even a balaclava. This will negate most of the chill factor but not all of it. Quality equipment can only help so much. The variable conditions can surprised anyone in a bad situation. This is why it’s a fantastic idea to hike with qualified climbers.

The Anak Ng Lasang Mountaineers with Mr Eric Garcia from Dauntless Outdoor Services. Kudos to their organizational skills and taking care of the team for this event.

It is a requirement and it would be foolish to disobey you instructors or leaders. It’s their job to keep you safe as well as the staff. I’m sure they do not want to come save your stupid ass for doing something stupid and getting themselves killed at the same time. This is a team effort.

We’re so much grateful that we successfully survive the cold shivering nights in Bamboo camp as we then proceed to the next Mountain going back to the jump off area.

I’m grateful to be home and alive and safe and well.

Hiker’s Haven: A Secluded Haven For Campers

Blow off the city humdrum. Saturday I had an epiphany which was, to invite my friends hiking. I discovered a secluded place that was enjoyable camping location. I log in to Facebook and let my fingers do the walking. This is when I discovered Hikers Haven, and I preceded to book this location.

I pondered over Itinerary and come up with:

1ST DAY ITINERARY

  • HIMBABAWUD FALLS
  • LUNCH
  • HIKERS HAVEN
  • DINNER
  • SOCIALS
  • LIGHT’S OFF

2ND DAY ITINERARY

  • BREAKFAST
  • BREAK CAMP
  • TRAIL BLAZE
  • HOME SWEET HOME

I put my game face on and prepared my body and soul to track into this beautiful sunny weather. As we got closer to the waterfalls the temperature cool a little and it was time to strip down to my bikini and take a dip. After a refreshing swim we discuss where to head next and decided to go crabbing down near the river.

SHWDITJg-inkNn6s456w-ink

Then hike all the way to Hiker’s Haven it took two hours hard work. We were all fatigue after swimming and going up to the campsite as well. All our stomach are grumbling and complain.

All photos taken were from the next day morning because when we arrived at the campsite it was already dark and rainy.

When we reach the campsite we run around the campfire and performing a ritual of cooking and we devoured our prey.

The morning breeze was so calm and refreshing.

As everybody is taking a night siesta digesting I spoke of the owner of the Hikers Haven. We told war stories about our adventures and I discovered we had similar and point of view and I’m envious of the retired couple of the things they achieve in life. They’re still happily doing this as often as they can adventuring.

My pleasure to meet Mr & Ms Esquerion. The lovely owner of Hikers Haven.

At the sparrow fart at dawn we started our hiking adventure.Today our objective is to head back home 😦 First things first however, we needed to look at the map which the owner of Hiker’s haven and determine our route and set our way points. Way point one following specific trail leading to the first road. Focusing on the map and we spent 20 mins climbing and hiking we discovered an old shanty which was empty. Not long after we had a huge confusing decision to go left or right!

RqS1MNpw-ink

After I made an executive decision to go left we had a very enthusiastic rough ride over some extraordinary terrain which included slippery, wet, rocky terrain. We were surprised and gratified with our personal achievement. We also had lots of opportunities for some photography at a man made forest and a flower farm. And we hit our next way point number two. From way point two we follow the road going down to Babag road.

In conclusion I didn’t have to pull out my revolver and shoot everyone for disobeying me. Personally I had a fantastic time with awesome hikers that supported in my leadership choices and it was a truly life experience for me being team lead. I gain lots of confidence from this expedition.

Wave goodbye to your regrets| Live Life To The Fullest & Always Look Forward

“Things that happens in the past needs to stay in the past. There is nothing that we can change about history.”

Looking back and doubting and questioning yourself is nothing but negativity. You need to change gears turn this vehicle around and aim the opposite direction. Set yourself some achievable realistic goals. Then go for it and take the challenge of life on and enjoy yourself.

I promise you looking forward is always better than looking backward. If you’re always looking backwards you’ll run into a tree and crash and burn.

So keep your eyes on the road think positive and you will always have a smile on a dial..

Tuburan|I Was Tapping Into My Internal Lara Croft

The 18th of January of 2020 I went on a hiking excursion. During my travels I listen to a Ghost-Mythical story which was a pretty legendary story. This really peek my curiosity and I had to go investigate. If I you want to learn more please check on this link.

Stage III – The Marmol Cliff

This was the 3rd place I visited this day. I discovered, I had a really sore butt from riding a motorcycle that last an hour on a very bumpy trail. When we got to our destination there were some spectacular opportunities to use our cameras. Using the light to get our best shots refracting off the marble cliff face. I know for a fact that this place is truly dangerous because of the terrain as well as the tidal influence on this area.

Stage I -Really Awesome Landmark- Grand Old Tree

This iconic tree is called “Dao Tree locally” . Botanically called Dracontomelon Dao , common name is  the Argus pheasant tree or the New Guinea walnut tree. My mind was blown to discover the diameter of this tree is seven meters. We were fortunate enough to meet a 70 yr old local travelling the same way as us and knew the location of this tree. Which is only a 3 minute detour of the highway-walking. There’s no way in hell we would have found this place by ourselves. You will need a guide if you come here. The tree had its root system well an truly embed into the creek. There were a lot of detritus among-st the roots of this ancient fellow. Personally I was pretty intimidated by the immenseness of this grand old tree.

Stage II- Secret Hideaway – Atabay Peak

In the town of Tuburan we sort information about this hideaway and got accurate directions to it. I would advised you to do the same because it’s rather difficult to explain it in words. We discovered as a group of three people on a single scooter that the road and trail we follow angelated up and down causing us all sorts of interesting problems together. It was like a roller coaster ride in some certain places. 🙂

On our arrival at the destination we found that you required appropriate climbing equipment. The limestone formation has a unique style. Please see the photo to get a better understanding of this area.

The Last Spot- The Blue Lagoon- Blue Hole

The locals call this place The Blue Hole. The water is quite deep and it shines a spectacular crystal blue. It also changes to a beautiful emerald green when the tide changes. Giving you some beautiful and amazing photography opportunity. The best part of it’s location is just near on the edge of the road. It’s two kilometers away from the downtown.

g3kb4sOQsc35X_SQ

In the conclusion of this story I had a fabulous time exploring these different areas. If you have your own personal transport you will find it a lot easier. If not public transport from places to places is required. Be safe on your adventures and take appropriate footwear for climbing and some swimwear for swimming.

Yours sincerely, Confused Adventurer.

FROM CEBU CITY

  • The fastest is to take a V-Hire (Van Express) from the terminal of Ayala Mall, Cebu City.
  • V-Hire Fare = 160 php
  • Alternative: From North Bus Terminal, take a Ceres Bus Liner.
  • Bus fare _ 135 php
  • Motorcycle Fare from the downtown going to Atabay Peak = 50 php per way
  • Motorcycle Fare to Marmol depends on the Driver so you need to haggle the price because of its location.
  • Ask the local’s in the downtown on how to get to the Blue hole. In our case we have a motorcycle.
  • Be a responsible traveler/adventurer.
  • Respect the nature and keep your trashes with you.
  • Enjoy and always ask the locals if you’re not sure about the location.

The New Boracay: My First Sponsored Trip

Believe in me? Sponsored-ship assistance?

If you’re lucky to have a truly dedicated sponsor that has good morals and a pure set of values that incorporate you coming to his establishment, and sample The New Boracay Hidden Treasures. It’s really nice to find someone with integrity and a generosity to make all this happen.

KKu7Zi4Q

If you blind yourself with beauty come check this out! Pristine beaches, water activities, diving, snorkeling etc.

Boracay reminds of the west Indies. It’s a very laid back culture which has beautiful beaches and the opportunities to watch the surprisingly amazingly full colored sunset. Whilst doing this you sit on your bum down on the beach with a few drinks that you have consumed at one of the local bars earlier because you’re unable to bring drinks on the beach itself which makes it a very clean beach. A perfect place to ponder your navel. As well as the meaning of life the answer of everything etc.

If you’re super enthusiastic as well as an artistic person your camera will be working overtime.

A Breath Of Fresh Air

Have you ever jump in the water enjoying yourself swimming and then realize how far away are you from the surface, I NEED SOME AIR RIGHT NOW!

Some people are anger and drag you down in life. This is not a good thing when you’re trying to swim and you’re getting pulled under water. I had too many people pulling me in multiple directions to do things that they wanted to do with their own objectives. These objectives did not align in my own objectives and I found myself in a true quandary-problem.

Therefore I took a hiatus from Facebook to clear my mind and focus on the things that I personally wanted to do. I needed to think about who falls in to the category that are the same as my own personal goals. When they align together I’m in harmony with no stress. If I follow everybody else agenda my life goes down the toilet with a lot of stress on top of that. So I have a chance to more selective to the personal things I wanted to do.

I still appreciate everybody, it’s just that I need to focus on my personal objectives to make myself happy, instead of trying to appease the whole world, it’s truly impossible. This why I took short hiatus.

The Five Most Interesting Provinces I Travel To This Year 2019

Here are my top five listed provinces, Antique, Benguet, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-tawi. When I was packing to go on my adventures I had to pack my travel kit to accommodate airfare as well as traveling by boat. The first thing I pack was my bikini except for one trip that it is not required in Benguet.

Antique

Traveling to Antique this water baby required her bikini, it was mandatory. I found Antique really tranquil and pleasant. Discovering and enjoying with the diving platform was so much fun. In La Escapo Resort you’ll have an opportunity to use a sauna in a unique way. Ask the locals all about it and how to use and they will assist you. I had a really pleasant memories to travelling Antique.

 Benguet

I required cold weather gear in this climate. In Benguet I chase one of my goal which was climbing Mt. Pulag. After this I hit nailed my goal of climbing Mt Pulag which gave me a self gratification and the feeling of achievement. As well as positive memories which and a sense of a favourable outcome which I never forget. Fond, fond memories always.

Basilan

In the province of Basilan I really enjoyed the climate because the humidity is way more temperate  which allows you to keep your energy high, so that you can participate in lot’s of activity such as swimming, beach activities, island hopping, photography, sunset hunting and chasing waterfalls. My most of transport were small boat, tricycle, motorcycle and van-hire or UV express. I had lot’s of mini adventures whilst discovering the coconut trees, rubber trees, crabs and a beautiful mountain resort owned by the Mayor of Malamawi. All these things added together give me fun memories and turned my brain into a banana with discovering all these beautiful natural scenery. There are so many to describe and to list them all. Most excellent adventure. 🙂

Sulu

In the province of Sulu I had a very interesting engagement with multiple people such as, policemen (2nd MP 2nd PMFC Sulu PPO), navy staff, tourism officer and security forces as well the opportunity to almost to meet the governor. The rumor says the governor is very handsome. 🙂 I can honestly say that all of these people were genuine and sincere as well as extremely helpful, extraordinary funny. All these guys made this trip totally awesome. I got to witness a pearl farm in action. We went swimming on a secluded beach by ourselves. I had the opportunity to turn into a Rambo. The Sulu province has a unique culinary attitude towards food as well as consuming it.

Tawi-tawi

On the province of Tawi-tawi you will discover delicious seafood that I really truly do miss. This province is truly relaxing and laid back and calm. If you have the opportunity to go and explore for an adventure you will have the opportunity to discover antiquities and history. I run out of budget and I want to experience more. Coming back soon. Cheers! Happy New Year! See you on the flip side of 2020!

2019| Three Outstanding Island I Visited This Year

How I do I come up with these three island as my most favorite islands at this time. I paused and pondered on this topic. I rattled my synopsis paths and then I had my epiphany. As all these amazingly cool adventures exploded into my mind and I was struggling to write them down in any semblance of order. On the top of my head these are my top three which I really enjoyed travelling to.

Boracay

The first island that I really enjoyed visiting is called Boracay. Some of the reasons I like visiting this island are, the amazing sunsets, as well as the delectable charmingly blue crystal water and the bright fine warm sand on the beach.

Mararison Island

This island of Mararison has some beautiful topographical vistas. The turquoise ocean is truly transparent and the sea breeze is like lovers touch. So soft, so gentle and so smooth.

Camotes Island

I really enjoy Camotes Island because the are some interesting activities that are available to people on this island. For example people that love caving, cliff jumping, kayaking, swimming, scenic photography= sunset.

These are my favorite three islands which gave me fun memories of my adventures of 2019 :D.

WESTERN VISAYAS: MY SIX DAY SOJOURN

I’d like to thank all of my mentors which are bloggers. For inspiring me to explore Western Visayas. This is where my curiosity led me to an invitation to follow up on my dreams and passions, = sea, islands, beaches, culture, photography and many other things which brings a smile to my dial.

Happily sponsored by Boracay and a big shout-out to my friend Mr. Wine for making this happen. May our paths cross again soon.

AKLAN: THE NEW BORACAY (PUBLIC OR PRIVATE ISLAND)

IMG_9997

Do you want to go to Boracay? 🙂 Considering it’s a beautiful and very attractive place. You need to understand there are some changes that you need to qualify to go this amazing island. By official mandate everyone is required to have accommodation- resort booking before you enter the island. The whole island was shutdown for six months to totally renovate all the facilities and establishments. This will include beautiful private beaches etc. Which has their own laws that you need to abide by.

8 THINGS TO DO IN BORCACAY (MY OPINION)

COME AND ENJOY TAKING A WALK BORACAY STATIONS

Boracay is divided into four parts. Each part has a title and the first title is Zero, One, Two,Three. If you have the budget and have paid for appropriate accommodation you’re entitled to go to station Zero 🙂 This is an exclusive area. In my opinion station one has the finest white sand beach with disgusting-lee nice sunsets. Station two 🙂 = shopping centre, restaurants, cafes, pubs, fast foods, ATM, souvenir shops, it is super busy here. Station 3= you will have all your water activities such, parasailing, jet-ski, “island hopping- snorkeling- lunch -Puka Beach”. You can walk along the beach for 7kms or use the transport which cost 20php for a cable Tricycle for those who aren’t athletic. The beach is a Food Alcohol and Smoke Free Zone. 🙂 This is police = smoking 1000 php and up. My personal favorite is Station 1 because of the reasons above.

ANTIQUE

If you visit Antique province you have the opportunity to meet a marvelous community. If you ask people where to find Kawa Hot Bath you will have a charming experience which will surprise you. 😉 You have the choice to do water activities. The locals have several activities that you can experience such as, water tubing- 400php, kayaking- 500-900php, diving/swimming in the river. There’s an incredible opportunity to take an inspired photo at sunset in a specific place which is called Malalison Island. Photography opportunity = a special sandbar that gives you access to taking a photo of an island that symbolizes-represents a pregnant woman, ask the locals where to find. If you want this opportunity you go to Culasi port, 750php for 3-5 people round-trip. Considering I was backpacking/hiking I took the cheap economy of seeing this establishment and I paid 600php for my accommodation. If you are lucky enough to use Enrique De Mararison all your fees will be covered “Boat fee (round trip), Terminal fee, accommodation and free breakfast’’. Now we’re heading to my favorite part which is the rolling hills, my thoughts, are I really enjoy the hiking as well as the astounding photography opportunities.

ILOILO CITY

The City Of L’amour-love 🙂 This city is called Iloilo. My challenge to you is to found why the people in this town are so very reserve and quite. This is your opportunity to discover more of of this town because I already know. 😉 I would encourage to discover the culinary of La Paz Batchoy. Do you like theological structure? “See the pictures below”. To those of you which are Catholic you might really enjoy coming to this unique farm. The photography here is very challenging because of the light and the symbolism of religion here are very pronounce.

GUIMARAS ISLAND

Now we are going to teleport to a brand new island, Guimaras, capital city-Jordan. By the way I took a photo of my favorite hero which the National hero of the country. Approved and validated by the Gods Mangoes! This is a topic that I enjoy so very much. There is so much history here with a research facility dealing with mangoes 🙂 Please drop by the information centre to gather particulars. Did you know I really love mango floats and I enjoy making them. We went to the Pitstop diner. MENU- combo meal and small Mango pizza. Delicious! Yes, yes! Mango Pizza. Please take some swimwear with you if you like swimming and you will also discover an ancient lighthouse. There are plenty of opportunities for photography.
